We only stayed in the same place on consecutive nights twice, so ease of setup and takedown was paramount for us. To illustrate just HOW easy it is: one day we were meeting our friends for dinner but our toddler had not napped yet. We pulled up at a public park, popped open the Skycamp, put her down for an hour-long nap, then woke her up, folded it and made it to the restaurant in 10 minutes.
The Skycamp has taken camping to a whole new level. The compact design makes traveling effortless. The set up and take down takes minutes leaving us more time to kick back or move on to the next adventure.
I have owned several RTT's previously, this one is our favorite thus far since it incorporates the good looks, aerodynamics, and light weight features of a hardshell tent but with the interior volume/footprint of a soft sided type (PVC bag) tent.
We went on our first camping trip with the Skycamper last weekend. Fantastic product that exceeded our expectation with how easy it was to open and set up. I would say the bedding is a bit thin but this is due to the folding design to have a huge sleeping area.
We liked all the attention to detail, our favourite is they added a loop on the strap you use to close it. You can hook this loop on a metal catch so you can free your hands to tuck in the sides of the tent! That was really useful.
My neighbors all came over to check it out when I first got it. At the campgrounds, other campers are interested in it too. I have used it on several trips now, both at public campgrounds and at remote sites on Northern Vancouver Island.
I've slept maybe 9 nights in it so far and I'm absolutely in love with it. I always find myself planning the next trip shortly after I come back from one. It makes going out doors that much more exciting.
It's quite cozy at night and is much roomier than one would expect. The old saying 'you get what you pay for' certainly applies in this case - what a well-made exciting product!
Takedown is pretty easy too - there's a surprising amount of room in the closed tent for bedding, which saves cargo room in the vehicle, and makes it easier to leave quickly for the weekend.
We slept overnight with the skylight open and it gave enough light that you could see where you are going to get out of the tent at night without waking people up and also could go to sleep.
