As strange as it sounds, the shoe rack was one of the things that sold me on the Skycamp! It highlighted to me the attention to detail that went into the design of this tent. That being said, we haven’t used the shoe rack as much as I thought we might, but a lot of that is due to the fact that our only trip so far has been to the beach, so while wearing thongs (flip flops, for those not acquainted with Australian slang) it’s easier just to kick them off as we go up the ladder. We have however been using the shoe rack as general storage, for sunscreen, keys, and other miscellaneous items it’s easy to misplace at a campsite. A valuable Skycamp accessory indeed!
This was a good purchase. It clips under the tent and can be left attached when you are ready to fold up the tent. I love the clip rings under the tent - they slide and are easy to adjust. The shoe rack is also great for storing other small items - flashlight, hats, gloves, etc.
This is a great idea from ikamper - always thinking on how to make the camping experience easier (and for me cleaner).
A good buy! You can also use it not only a shoe rack but also as a storage rack for other things. You can also hang it inside your tent or inside your car. It is so versatile.
A quality product that makes for a good place to store your shoes. It is definitely a luxury item for a couple; since it stores alot of shoes. It has buckles that allow it to fold and hold itself while you close the tent.
It's a great idea to have a shoe rack attach to the tent! I just needed to do a little tweak to mine for me to really like it.
While it's connected to the tent, without anything supporting the bottom side of it, the shoes may fall out easily. It ends up facing the floor almost. I've fixed this issue by putting a light bungee cord attached to the ladder to keep the shoe rack from swinging facing downwards. My shoe rack is half way behind my ladder and it works out great this way. I may be doing it wrong, but this is how I use mine. :)
Great idea and quality. We included a camping mat at the bottom of our Skycamper (by Coleman) which gave us the ability to take our shoes off and put them in the organizer before we went up the stairs. This keeps the bottom tidy (especially if you use the Annex). Great idea, keeps any creepy crawlies out of your shoes!
The fit and construction of the shoe rack is good. However, we have found it too awkward to take our shoes off while standing on the ladder. Taking shoes off down in the dirt and then climbing the ladder somewhat defeats the purpose. We could use a door matt at the bottom of the ladder. Also, the shoe rack is a bit far "back" under the extension to easily reach for some, especially kids. This is to keep the shoes dry I assume, which we appreciate, but if we can't reach it, we can't use it. You could also sit in the doorway of the tent to remove your shoes, but then you need to climb half way back down the ladder to put your shoes away. Also it can be tricky to get the shoes into the slots in the dark. I guess we are probably just lazy campers! hahha. I am sure many will love this feature, but we have just reverted to putting our shoes in the tent with us in plastic bins/trays.
We appreciated having the shoe rack on our 3-week road trip. I got quite adept at removing and stowing my shoes on my way up the ladder. :) But we also put a rubber mat at the base of our ladder so that if you were wearing boots or tied shoes you could take them off there and then stow them before climbing into the tent.
Another great idea from iKamper! Love the idea of having shoes up and out of the way!
